March 2001; Opening ceremony

We held an opening ceremony on 27th March. We invited our advisers, cooperators and other persons concerned. After the ceremony, the director of our museum Yoshiyuki Kuraku introduced the museum to them.
Our museum opened on the next day. From that day, many people visit here everyday. We are looking forward to seeing you all!

November 2000; Pre-open of the Museum

We held a pre-open of the museum on 26th, Nov. About 100 attendants who had applied for it were invited, and they were quite surprised to see the huge relics such as the blocks of the layers, the pipes and the structures for water supply.

October 2000; All of the huge structures were set.

All of the huge structures found at the North Bank of Sayamaike Pond have been set in the museum. The wooden pipes unearthed from the eastern part of the north bank, both made in the 7th century and the 17th, have been put above and below nearly as they were when found.
We must complete the other works preparing for the open on the 28th March, 2001.

March 2000; Completed to set the blocks of the layers of the North Bank

We completed to set 101 blocks of the layers of the North Bank. The set blocks look like a giant wall of 15m high and 58m long. The layers show us that our ancestors have carried out many restoration works time after time for about 1,400 years.

June 1999; The Architecture of the Museum have been completed.

The architecture of the museum, designed by the famous architect Mr. Tadao Ando, have been completed.

January to March 1999; The construction of the Architecture is going on.
The Architecture of the Museum will be completed in coming June.

The Wooden Pipes unearthed from the eastern part of the North bank, both made in the 7th century and the 17th, have been put into a pool filled with Polyethylene-Glycol solution for about two and half years to strengthen the remains. Now they were taken out of the pool, and are to be dried.

July to August 1998; Reinforcing bars are packed with concrete.

May to June 1998; The construction work is going on.

Iron bars now surround the Tower for water supply set in the museum-to-be.
At the foot of the Tower, we will exhibit the structure made in Edo Era.

April 1998; The Tower for water supply have been set in the museum-to-be.

The Tower for water supply built in Taisho Era have been set in the museum-to-be.
It had been a symbol of the pond. At the restoration work in Heisei Era, a new tower was built and the older one finished its role. So we decided to show it in the museum.
